A Comprehensive Review of Modern Object Segmentation Approaches

Image segmentation is the task of associating pixels in an image with their respective object class labels. It has a wide range applications many industries including healthcare, transportation, robotics, fashion, home improvement, and tourism. Many deep learning-based approaches have been developed for image-level recognition pixel-level scene understanding-with latter requiring much denser annotation scenes large set objects. Extensions tasks include 3D video segmentation, where units voxels, point clouds, frames are classified into different We use "Object Segmentation" to refer union these tasks. In this monograph, we investigate both traditional modern approaches, comparing strengths, weaknesses, utilities. examine detail techniques recent years, provide review widely used datasets evaluation metrics, discuss potential future research directions.
